For some couples, getting pregnant seems to be very easy - it almost seems to happen by itself - before you can say “Jack Robinson”, a new baby is one the way! However, it isn’t this way for all couples - not by a long chalk. Indeed, there are a vast number of couples for whom getting pregnant can be quite an uphill struggle. No matter how much they might want to have a baby, it doesn’t just happen for them, and the more they want it, the harder that struggle can seem.
When a couple having been trying for a baby for a while, and it just isn’t happening, there are a number of options that they consider. Of course, it’s important that they go and see their doctor - that way they can discuss the options, and get a proper understanding of each of the alternatives that are available. In some cases, a doctor may recommend medical intervention or fertility treatments (such as in vitro fertilization and similar procedures)which can increase the couple’s chances of having a baby. But, in other cases, the doctor may recommend that the couple keep trying, at least for a bit longer, in the “natural way”.
If trying for a baby in the “natural way” (and even in some cases if used assisted reproduction methods), a doctor can also advise couples on how to take advantage of the woman’s natural monthly cycle, so that the couple can maximize their chances of getting pregnant. The obvious corollary of this, is that many women will want to track their cycle in order to increase their chances of having a baby.
